welcome

Welcome to Home Page of the English Co-teaching Intervention Program (ECTIP) at Long Reach High School!

The ECTIP class is co-taught by an English teacher and a Special Educator.  It is two periods long and has a maximum of 20 students, including a maximum of five IEP students, insuring that all students get the attention they need in order to maximize their potential.

We are available after-school for additional help, and starting this year we will be using an on-line grading program making it possible to get easy updates on your child’s grades and behavior.

This year’s 9th grade class is required to pass the English High School Assessments (HSAs) in order to graduate high school.  The extra period that the ECTIP class has offers a unique opportunity for your child to gain critical HSA skills and to practice those skills.  In addition to this benefit, the small class size, extra period, and two teachers give us the chance to focus on the curriculum as well as real world organizational and social skills.

It is our goal to give your child the extra push that they need in order to grow their skills and their confidence.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions!

program recommendations

I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to sign my daughter up for English Seminar.  She flowered in the program and became interested in reading on a whole new level.  The smaller class size, individual attention, and project variety all combined to inspire her.  She has gone from being an average performer to honors level.  This program represents to me a wonderful interpretation of "No Child Left Behind".  Thanks to all for providing this essential boost.

As you know my child was a student of yours in the English Seminar program you ran during the 2005-06 school year.  I was very pleased with the progress my child made in the program and feel it was well worth the additional period of English the program offers.  I feel my child made significant improvements in reading comprehension and writing that otherwise would not have been made in a single period English class.  With the English HSA coming up in 10th grade, I felt we needed to provide every advantage we could to help our child pass the exam.  I believe your English program provided this advantage.

I am happy to recommend the English seminar program you ran at Long Reach High to any parent . . .

. . . is dedicated, cheerful, motivated, positive, & always available. Phone & e-mail are returned promptly. She and her staff have improved my son's reading & comprehension significantly!

. . . was my son's English teacher last year and he has never in his entire school history had a teacher more devoted and dedicated. I would absolutely love for him or highly recommend any other student to sign up for any additional classes she has to offer. The amount of knowledge he came away with this past year was just incredible and I truly hope he can continue to have this much interest and excitement in learning throughout the rest of his schooling.
